The regulatory framework for compliance in the aviation industry in Nigeria is primarily governed by the Civil Aviation Act, of 2022. The Act establishes the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA); an independent corporate body not subject to any authority in the discharge of its duties and functions, as the regulatory body responsible for the oversight and regulation of civil aviation activities in the country. This body is also entrusted with administering the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations 2015.
The objective of this article will be to examine the purpose of the Civil Aviation Act, highlighting the regulatory requirements under the Act and its importance, as well as the challenges of regulatory compliance under the Civil Aviation Act.
